The Samoan confusion between Bee & Pi

Here's a shot I finally got of a Wasp (Pi) and Honey Bee (Lagomeli).In Samoan, they call it a "Pi", which is big and bright yellow with tough armour. The Samoan "Pi" is an English "Wasp," while the Samoan "Bee" is an English "Lagomeli."How can we tell the difference?
